The Story!
Daryl was quite astonished. Although he himself had come up with the idea at one point, although when he told his parents, they said it would be hopeless and no one would follow. He then asked everyone in town after that, but they didn’t seem to mind, or care. After all, he was 4, and no one was going to follow the lead of another 4 year old, not even the other village kids. But now that he has one of his siblings, and the older one of his two siblings, he feels more motivated.
“Hmm, I’m not sure, the last time I tri-”, James cuts him off.
“But Daryl, that was last, time, 17 years ago!, I was just a baby!”, argues James. He had some valid points, which were enough to steer an ambitious, young-spirited 19 year-old onto his side.
“Sure, I’ll go with you, but we need more people on our side”, said Daryl agreeing to his plan.
Soon after, James and Daryl came up with a plan to find Ms. Sandburg’s wife, which involved getting at least 2 more people on their side to journey with them. After that, they would set on a voyage to where Mr. Sandburg went to find milk. Finally, they would look for him 40 days, and 40 nights. They believed that if they looked that long, Mr. Sandburg would appear, like Noah’s ark. Although Daryl opposed that fact. He was determined to find evidence that god existed, as he was, again, young and ambitious.
The next morning, they did not attend school, after lying about their journey at the breakfast table. They then packed some extra things in their backpacks, like bread and milk, along with some apples, olives, and a bottle of Solaris Grape wine, a traditional favorite that he always enjoyed, in case they found him. After leaving their house, they instead went west instead of east to the school to find some people that either were going to school, or some older townsfolk willing to trust the faith of an adult.
They walked on a path until they spotted the Sitka family, a family that newly arrived from Dublin into this village for peace and quiet. Daryl decided to talk to them.
“Oh boy, do I have an invitation for you guys”, Daryl said rather randomly
“Excuse me?”, said the older sibling, who was about 13.
“Would you like to find Mr. Sandburg with us”, blurted James, as he was seeing his brother struggling to make words.
“Why yes, I would like to do that, but I can’t, my mom would be quite mad”, she replied.
“But it’s for Ms. Sandburg, splurted out Daryl once more!”
“Okay, but I’ll have to pack from my families farm later tonight. We can leave tomorrow morning.”
“Great then, but we still need to find one more person”, said Daryl bravely.
They walked to the bar where they would be likely to find some people that could be somewhat interested into their plan. After all, a sensible adult could keep their cover if they wanted to.
As they were whispering about their plan, a old man relaxing in an armchair picked up on them, and was intrigued on what they could be up to.
“Why hello, young boys and girls”, he said, slowly walking towards them.
They gasped, they knew who it was. He was a Hamlet valley legend.
It was John Quinhook.
