Weeping Willow – Chapter 5 (Hunger Games fan fiction)

We’re halfway over already! Wow, I didn’t expect this book to go by so fast. I think it just took a lot of time writing it, so it seems like it should be longer! Oh well, still 2 chapters and an epilogue to go! Back to today’s chapter, this one is 8 pages, which is the longest out of all of them. It has a lot of different content, and mixes a lot of different themes, likes action, romance, and gore! So, I think this chapter will please all book readers, whether you’re a romance person (although I have to break it to you, there’s no kissing). Or if you like action-adventure, (which is the main theme of the book). Or if you’re into gory, there are some bloody parts! I don’t wanna spoil to much either!

Hope you enjoy this chapter, and visit future posts on our website!

Story!

Tristan, following the sound of Willow’s screams, dashes through the forest, unaware this could be one of the deadliest trips he will encounter in the Hunger Games. He only is focused on saving his sister, from the potential threat of the Careers. He knew he was the only one left with a high training score, besides the careers, so he thought it would be most likely for them to have captured her instead.

The sounds come closer. Eventually, Tristan sees them. The careers taunting Willow. This makes his stomach hurt. A lot. With javelin in hand, he hides behind a tree, hoping to be concealed long enough for him to sneak up on the careers.

Ares has the locket, hanging it up high, trying to get Willow to grab it. He laughs, seeing how pathetic this tribute is. He starts taunting her even more, by getting the locket just out of reach when Willow tries to take it.

“Get her Jewel”, says Ares, apparently to the District 1 female.

Jewel then kicks her and manages to make her fall and lie down, on the ground, helplessly.

“Big brother’s not here to get you now, little girl”, says Jewel, taunting her, similar to how Ares does it.

They have Sandra captive as well. So no one, or so they thought, could save Willow.

“Guys, why don’t we just kill them”, says the District 2 male, wanting to get it over with. Little did he know, those would be his last words, as Tristan throws the javelin straight into his back. The cannon fires within seconds.

“Get them”, Ares orders to Jewel and Ti, the only remaining careers left.

They run after Sandra and Willow, hoping to get some more kills, while Ares pins down Tristan on the ground, still fighting with their weapons.
Luckily, Tristan finds a decent-sized rock and smacks him in the head with it, causing Ares to lose his balance for a few moments, letting Tristan escape his grasp.

However, as soon as he starts running, he approaches Jewel, who has a knife in hand, ready to kill him. As she throws the knife, it gets stuck on the edge of his jacket, barely lodged in there. This causes Tristan to startle, allowing Jewel to get a close-up attack. However, Tristan slashes Jewel’s stomach, forcing her to lie on the ground. Tristan runs away as fast as possible.

Then, as he is running away, Willow sees Tristan. He calls out for him, and they reunite, giving each other a great big hug. Finally, both are together at last. Sandra is okay too, just a little shaken from the previous incident.

Jewel is still suffering from her immense wound in her stomach. Finally, she sees Ares come through the trees, and is relieved, hoping Ares would save her.

“Ares”, she said, in a sigh of relief

Ares walks over to Jewel, knowing that this is one more person to save. But he makes his choice.

“There’s only one victor, Jewel”, he says as he stabs her in the heart.

Willow, in the backpack Sandra managed to steal from the careers, patches Tristan’s small knife wound and manages to pull it off, as Tristan has obviously recovered.

“I’m going to get some water”, says Cindra.

Hoping to talk to each other for the first time in days, Willow opens her mouth to say something, but then a man, a tall one at that, bursts through the woods, looking beaten.

“Please”, he pants “Help me”

“Who are you?”, says Tristan, unsure of this new character approaching them out of the blue.

“I’m Mylo, District 12”, he says, falling to his knees.

“Wow, that’s a big wound”, Willow says, looking over at the wound in his upper-left arm. The blood is still fresh, dripping onto his jacket.

“I have another bandage”, says Willow. But before she can grab it, Tristan pulls her aside, wary of if the tribute is working for the careers.

They agree, however, that they’ll let this kid on their team. So they use the bandage and what’s left of the healing medicine on his wound. Luckily, the stuff works, and he looks like he can manage.

“Look, I’ll forage”, says Mylo, slightly unsure of Tristan, since he thinks he’s powerful, mainly due to his high training score.

“Fine with me”, says Tristan
Apparently, Sandra has gotten back from her trip of getting water, and notices Mylo. She seems eager to talk to him, but he left right before Sandra had a chance to talk.

Willow can’t help noticing this, and asks why she wanted to talk to him.

“I’ve had a crush on him ever since training”, said Sandra. “We both use the same weapons”.

“Maybe you guys could team up”, says Willow, continuing the conversation.

Finally Mylo arrives with some blueberries, from a nearby blueberry bush, and some walnuts he found in a tree.

“Does anyone have any nut allergies”, he says, chucking slightly.

“Oh, isn’t he cute”, says Sandra.

“Well, then talk to him”, says Willow

I think me and Willow should go foraging”, says Tristan, wanting to get away from people a little bit and talk to Willow for at least a minute or two.

“Fine with me”, says Mylo “I can stand here on guard”.

Willow and Tristan walk away from camp, making sure not to go too far, or they may bump into a few other tributes. Then again, there are not many left, Tristan thought.

“How many tributes are left”, said Tristan, wanting to know potential dangers.

“Well, there is Ares, Ti, the boy and girl from 3, us, Sandra, and Mylo”, says Willow

“Only 8 left”, says Tristan, surprised and shocked.

“Yep, not much threats anymore”, says Sandra, picking up some berries. This startles Tristan and Willow, not knowing Sandra had come back here. Sandra knows, though, and tells them.
“Mylo said I could forage with you guys”, said Sandra. Tristan and Willow didn’t like Mylo’s idea of things, since they wanted to have some alone time. But their thoughts are cut off by a cannon sounding fairly close to them. They immediately run back to camp, hoping it wasn’t anyone they know (besides the careers).

When they arrive, sharp teeth have been lodged in Mylo’s stomach, blood pouring from both of his limbs, dead.
